Woman in China Arrested for Using Twitter

Cheng Jianping was sentenced to a labor camp in china for retweeting a post from her fiance on twitter. The chief executive of twitter posted this message," Dear Chinese government, a year long detentions for sending a sarcastic tweet is neither the way forward nor the future of your great people."  Cheng's fiance said the original tweet was about recent anti-Japanese protests in China. Twitter is blocked in china but some have figured out how to bypass the controls.

This is what the original tweet said," Anti-Japanese demonstrations, smashing Japanese products, that was all done years ago by Guo Quan. It's no new trick. If you really wanted to kick it up a notch, you'd immediately fly to Shanghai to smash the Japanese expo pavilion."

Cheng re posted that and added, "Angry youth, charge!"

In my opinion the Chinese government needs to grow up. I mean putting someone in a labor camp for tweeting is ridiculous. It really shows that they are not changing with the times. It really isn't the way of the future. I know our government has its flaws but our government is not that bad.I am very grateful that I live in the country  I live in. Every person no matter what country should have freedom of speech.  The chinese government seems like they are scared to have their people think for themselves.Tell me what you think of this by adding a comment.
